But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them who had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. They mean that when we were lost, Christ died for us. They are vast, they are far reaching, they mean everything to us. We read over the Scriptures just as I have read them to you, and we can scarcely comprehend them. We scarcely comprehend the wonderful gift of the Son of God in our behalf. Now we want to present to you the great advantages, the happiness, and the probabilities which are found in Jesus Christ. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for the us.
